COVID resources
Since the onset of COVID-19 (or coronavirus) pandemic, the clinicians at NYNeuroSLP have been on the front lines helping those in immediate need. Althought the medical community is unsure of the exact impact of COVID-19 on its survivors, there appears to be some noteworthy trends.
- Increased risk of dysphagia and aspiration in patients with COVID-19 due to dyspnea (elevated respiratory rate), respiratory failure, intubation, mechanical ventilation, and possibly proning.
- Patients recovering from COVID-19 may develop neurological symptoms, such as delirium, altered level of consciousness, poor memory, mental fogginess and cognitive fatigue.
- Although the mechanism for loss of function is complex and multi-factorial, respiratory deconditioning is profound for persons recovering from COVID-19.

Via telehealth, the clinicians at New York Neurogenic SLP can help those recovering with COVID-19 begin to rehabilitate their minds and bodies. A comprehensive evaluation paired with a personalized treatment plan can help those recovering rebuild their quality of life.
